The salary thresholds for highly skilled migrants.

Whoever wants a specialist from outside the European Union to work in the Netherlands deals with the IND salary thresholds: a minimum salary per residence form. As of 11 August 2026 three thresholds apply: € 5,942 gross per month for highly skilled migrants of 30 and older, € 4,357 for under 30, and € 3,122 for the reduced criterion and the orientation year, all excluding 8% holiday allowance.

The rate

What does the threshold mean for the hourly rate?

At NewData the rate for an international follows directly from the salary: up to a gross monthly salary of € 3,200 the NewData Student scale applies, and for every euro of hourly wage above it € 2 per hour is added (rule of 14 August 2026).

For a highly skilled migrant of 30 and older the rate comes to € 101.64 per hour at the highest bracket and € 91.64 at the lowest, excluding VAT. Under 30 it is € 83.35 and € 73.35, excluding VAT (rates of 14 August 2026). The full calculation table is on the hiring internationals page.

We earn nothing on the visa application.
