Switching between models
Switching without starting over.
NewData has three contract models: hiring through secondment, hiring with cost-free takeover through DetaVast, and direct permanent recruitment through recruitment and selection. Between hiring and DetaVast you can switch.
At a switch the hours worked count, and the settlement goes one way. Which way, and what it costs, is on this page with worked examples.
You read the small print here upfront, not afterwards. That way you know where you stand before you sign anything; that is what we call transparent business.
NewData
The principles
The three fixed principles.
- 01
The hours worked count
All hours together determine which bracket of the scale or which DetaVast track you land in (rules of August 2026).
- 02
The settlement goes one way
If the switch lands you in a higher rate, the difference over the hours already worked is settled. If you land lower, nothing is paid back (rules of August 2026).
- 03
The agreement is on paper before you switch
You know the amount of any settlement before you decide; no correction follows afterwards.
Hire, then take over
From secondment to DetaVast.
Always possible. The hours worked carry over, up to at most half of the DetaVast track you choose. If the DetaVast rate is higher than what you paid so far, that difference over the transferring hours is settled in one invoice.
Example: 700 hours worked at € 65 excluding VAT. You choose DetaVast 1,200 hours, rate € 70 excluding VAT. 600 hours transfer, because that is the ceiling. The settlement is 600 times € 5, so € 3,000, and the candidate still works 600 hours (rates of August 2026).
The same 700 hours, but you choose DetaVast 2,000 hours, rate € 60 excluding VAT. That is lower than the € 65 paid: nothing is paid back. All 700 hours transfer, because they stay under the ceiling of 1,000, and from that moment € 60 applies.
Take over, then hire after all
From DetaVast to secondment.
The hours worked remain in place. All hours together determine which bracket of the scale you land in, and that rate applies to the remaining hours. If the DetaVast rate was lower than that bracket, the difference over the hours already worked is still settled.
Example: DetaVast 2,000 hours, so € 60 excluding VAT. After 300 hours the track stops and 150 hours of secondment follow. 450 hours in total, so the bracket of 401 to 600 hours, so € 65 excluding VAT: those first 300 hours get a settlement of € 5 per hour (rates of August 2026).
The other way round, for comparison: 400 hours on DetaVast 1,200 (€ 70 excluding VAT), and you want 300 more seconded. 700 hours together, so the bracket of 601 to 800, so € 62.50 excluding VAT. That is lower than the € 70 paid: nothing is paid back.
This situation rarely occurs; the rule is there to close the gap, not because it happens often.
In depth
Why does the settlement go one way?
A difference in NewData’s favour is settled; a difference to our disadvantage is not. That is a one-sided rule, and that is why the reason stands next to it.
At a switch we incur costs and rearrange things, and with our margins it does not fit the model to let the settlement run the other way too. Without the rule it would also pay to choose the cheapest track, use it briefly and then switch.
That is why the amount is always on paper before you switch: the rule is one-sided, the surprise never is. An overview of the models is at all services.
Questions
Frequently asked questions about switching
Am I tied to the model I start with?+
No. If you start hiring and want DetaVast after all, or the other way round, you switch without starting over: the hours worked count (rules of August 2026). How the settlement works is on this page with worked examples, and the agreement is on paper before you switch.
Does switching cost extra?+
Sometimes a settlement follows, and it goes one way: if the switch lands you in a higher rate, the difference over the hours already worked is settled; if you land lower, nothing is paid back (rules of August 2026). The worked examples are on this page and the amount is on paper before you switch.
What happens when a candidate does not work out?+
That is not a model switch but a candidate replacement, and it has its own rule: the hours worked carry over to the next candidate, up to at most half of the chosen track. That rule is explained on the DetaVast page.
