Care professionals wanted to learn more from routine care data in order to improve the quality of care further. An AVG-proof tool for extracting data from the electronic patient record was already in place, but time and specific expertise were missing to make good use of it. As a result, valuable information for research and for daily practice largely went unused.

NewData started with a trial and put in a medical student with data science skills. She took over the data extraction and processing, built a usable dataset for nursing research and carefully documented the way of working.
